2 April 2010 - The Malay Association of Keriam (PESAKA) is an association that combines individuals in the community who possesses spirit and understanding to contribute to the development and progress of the community voluntarily for aspirated objectives.
An association should have many good characteristics such as unity, cooperation, voluntary spirit, understanding, possess teamwork spirit, concern, caring, patriotic, willing to sacrifice time, energy and material for prosperity, welfare and development of all.
This was stated by the Deputy Minister of Home Affairs, Pehin Orang Kaya Dewa Pahlawan Dato Paduka Awg Hj Dani at the launch of the golden jubilee celebration of the Malay Association of Keriam (PESAKA) on Friday.
He lauded the members for being able to sustain the association for the past 50 years and are active in programmes and projects to realise the mission, vision and aspiration of its establishment. PESAKA could become the role model and inspiration to youth associations, particularly to the new one as many associations established in a short period become defunct.
The highlight of the ceremony was the presentation of awards to 24 PESAKA pioneers who formed the association back in the 1950's. Meritorious leader awards were presented to seven people who formerly became the executive and administrative committee members for 20 years, not less than 10 years and those who have made PESAKA proud. YDP PESAKA award was also presented.
The ceremony was also highlighted with the launching of the golden jubilee foundation landmark and the planting of 50 longan fruit trees around the hall of the association. Pehin Dato Hj Dani later viewed a mini carnival and exhibitions from various agencies, auto dealers and domestic household exhibits. Members of the public are welcome to view the exhibition, which is open until today.
